Where M&S Began With a Penny
Hunt down the market where Marks & Spencer started life as a single stall.

Kirkgate Market is one of the largest indoor markets in Europe, and somewhere among its hundreds of stalls is the site of Michael Marks' original Penny Bazaar, opened in 1884 — everything on it cost a penny, and the whole M&S empire grew out of that one table. Look for the marker; everyone else is too busy browsing to notice it.
