In 1885, 35 Victorian women spent a year hand-stitching a full-size copy of the Bayeux Tapestry, and Reading Museum has had it on display ever since — free to see, and just as long as the original in Normandy. Somewhere along its 70 metres is Halley's Comet, stitched in a year nobody knew what a comet was.
